SOMALIA -Heavily armed Al Shabaab fighters have carried out on Tuesday an ambush attack on military convoy belonging to Jubbaland and Ethiopian troops outside Kismayo city.

The militants raided the army convoy at Singalar area, 15Km north of Bulo-Gadud village, where Mohamed Kuno was killed in joint attack early this month.

The allied troops engaged heavy gun gunfire during the attack with the militants and managed to ward off the Al Shabaab attackers, according to the residents.

Reports say suspected US military jets have helped the coalition forces defeat Al shabaab in the ambush near Kismayo city, the seat of Jubbaland state of Somalia.

The death casualties on both sides in the battle remain unclear, as local authority did not release comments on the Al Shabaab attack.
